BREAKING NEWS!

Opticalia is about to launch the new ‘Tom Lock Series 2’

range of binoculars into the market place!TL-Series-2-2

I can reveal there will be two models in the new ‘Series 2′ range, a 10×42 and an 8×42.

The first question to address is; “Is the new ‘Series 2’ going to replace the very popular ‘Series 1″? Categorically the answer is NO! The ‘Series 1’ was introduced to be the best value for money binocular we could introduce at around the £50 price point. The ‘Series 2’ aims to repeat that goal at the £100 price point, it is simply an addition to the range not a replacement!

The next question has to be; “Is the ‘Series 2’ just an up specked  ‘Series 1’? NO is the answer it is a completely new model! So what will I get for my extra £50? Well the main difference will be the improved optical performance that this new model brings;  flatter field of view with very little distortion right up to the edges; wider angle of view thanks to the introduction of ‘wide angle eyepieces’; brighter contrast rich images due to the improved lens coatings and the silver prism coatings; higher colour fidelity due to the phase coatings employed. But there’s a lot more besides that has gone into the new ‘Series 2’ range.

Focus-Wheel

A great deal of effort has gone into the ergonomic design of the binocular, they’re not just pretty to look at, stunning to look through, they are also comfortable and safe to use. The first thing most people will probably notice is the ‘Series 2’s focussing wheel’. This is a completely new design, made of metal instead of the traditional rubber material, this has enabled the factory to completely re-think the focusing process. They have produced this striking fine toothed design which has a large contact area with the user’s finger making the focusing experience precise and controlled, virtually eliminating any chance of slippage while spinning the focus wheel, even in extreme conditions, even with a gloved hand. The new focus wheel is very tactile even for the most sensitive skinned, a shear pleasure to use.

Ergonomics-1Ergonomics-2Grip-MouldingAt first glance the body armour may seem just elegant and stylish but look a little closer and you will see the reason for the moulding. Notice the use of a very tactile non slip moulding in the recessed side panels of the binocular. These help the user to keep a firm grip between thumb and forefinger in enhanced comfort, greatly reducing the chances of dropping the binocular. The sweeping moulding on the top of the binocular forms a ridge for the user’s fingers also lessening the chances of ‘a drop’ but at the same time adding to the comfort of the viewing experience. There are other enhanced features of the ‘Series 2’ range such as the change to metal twist up eye-cups which are more precise than the plastic option and the addition of a soft padded deluxe carrying strap for total comfort.

We think the ‘Series 1’ and ‘Series 2’ represent probably the best value for money available in the marketplace today at their target price points – but we would wouldn’t we! Well just so you won’t have to take just our word for it we are sending the ‘Series 2’ to be reviewed by two of the industries most well respected reviewers; Jason Whitehead of www.bestbinocularsreviews.com and Mike Alibone of ‘Birdwatch’ magazine. As soon as we have their reviews we will add  links so you can read what they have to say ~ so watch this space!
